One Last Week
Content Warning: One Last Week deals with sensitive topics, including suicidal ideation, and is generally a pretty depressing time.
The web version might be slower to run and choppier than the downloadable version - as such, it isn't the ideal way to experience the story.
-------
The world is ending.
The governments of the world have all fallen apart, the power grid is down, the cell towers aren't functioning anymore, and the cities have been all but emptied out. Slowly but surely, a deadly infection spreads across the land, destroying the landscape, attaching to anyone who comes into contact with it, tearing them apart from the inside and turning them into hosts who spread it further.
However, Judah and Birch, two survivors who find each other through the whims of fate, don't really care. Not much point in doing so, after all - the two are stuck on the top floor of a skyscraper, unable to leave the building due to the infection congregating in its lower floors.
And so, with nothing better to do, they spend their days passing the time by chatting, sleeping, working out, and tuning in to a daily radio program hosted by a fellow survivor.
Of course, the ending of this story has already been decided. Sooner or later, the infection will come to end it all. But until then?
They've got all the time in the world.

This VN was amazing. If you ever feel like it, a spin off where they meet in the normal world and have a date would be amazing.
I would wish it for them, they deserve to be happy.
It's a very good fvn
Loved the Story! Really hope they got happy ending. I probably shouldn’t have read it at 2pm though….
and btw do the scribbles actually mean something? If so, could someone tell me plsssss! Would be appreciated ;)
I just want to leave a message for those who are probably scrolling past the various VN of the jam, talking a look at what it is about: do not miss out on this one. Even if you think the plot leaves little to the imagination, it really got me and I believe it is one of the best short stories I have seen in a good while. Definetely worth your time.

I usually don't write comments on FVNs very often, but this one REALLY impacted me. As incredibly bitter sweet as it is, I still loved each and everything about it.
The mix of emotions I went trough while reading it! Even in the most saddest moment you add a bit of humor. Good job for this incredible story and art.
I love this FVN, great setting and character building. It was really satisfying seeing all the gradual apocalypse setup (denial, acception of it) and the changes in the characters.
I really like this story! Although it made me so sad. 🥲
I shouldn't have read this at 2 in the morning 🥲. All I have to say is, wherever these 2 are, I hope they live a happy (even if infected) life. It seems to me that they still maintain a conscience even if they get infected so I will believe that they did get a happy ending 💜
When making the story, I decided that the runes would simply be gibberish - at the end of the day, I didn't really want to shed light on the experiences of those who've been taken by the infection - only to show that there's something there beyond what ordinary humans can comprehend.
I always love a good doomed narrative and this one is definitely one of the best I've read so far!!!! The gradual increase in dread as the story progressed is so *chefs kiss* and it's so depressing I love it sm, this is a great story!!
I'm very glad you enjoyed it in spite of (or maybe because of 🤔) the depressing bits!
gosh. I'm having a mix emotion playing this vn. I tried to prepare myself, but still, I didn't expect the end. the last day had my heart racing but still it's a beautiful end. would do the same with Judah if I was him. thanks for making this!
And thank you for reading it and commenting! It's always very uplifting to hear that people enjoy and resonate with what I've written!
thanatophobia the game
god this game was so good, it filled me with so much dread and paranoia throughout the entire runtime. I also loved how raw and vulnerable the two characters thoughts of suicidal ideation were. The writing felt very guttural basically 🙂↕️
Thank you!!!
I'm glad those feelings came across well in the writing (though they aren't exactly positive ones 😅)
this was beautifully painful
This visual novel is incredibly romantic and brilliant, depicting the heartwarming companionship between people during their final moments. It genuinely moved me to tears while playing - absolutely amazing. I'd give it a perfect score without hesitation.
Thank you so much!
However brief it was, I'm glad you enjoyed and connected to the relationship between Birch and Judah!
这部视觉小说非常浪漫和精彩,描绘了人们在最后时刻的温馨陪伴。它真的让我在玩游戏时感动得流泪 - 绝对令人惊叹。我会毫不犹豫地给它打满分。
